Live-Tweeting Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers

So I decided it’d be fun to look back at the very first episode of the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers. I think the series is still going on but this thing started in 1993 in America. I know Japan started this before then and I even watched a couple of shows (a couple dubbed horribly in Tagalog, too!) in the Philippines.
So let’s see these teenagers save the earth from the evils of Rita Repulsa in the first episode of the Power Rangers! It’s morphinomenal!

There is some giant space dumpster being looked at by two astronauts. Your mom’s an astronaut! #WhiteMenCantJumpReference #PowerRangers
Some monsters come out and pull out some Asian lady in a weird costume out of a dumpster. #PowerRangers
This Asian lady wants to destroy the nearest planet, which happens to be Mother Earth. Scene now shifts to Angel Grove High! #PowerRangers
Guy in red (Jason) practices martial arts with the African-American guy (Zack). EE-YAAHH! EE-YAAHH! ZIT-ZIT-EEYAAHHHH!!! #PowerRangers
Kimberly practices her gymnastics. I bet Amy Jo Johnson (who played Kimberly) STILL looks the same as she did in ’93. #PowerRangers
Bulk and Skull (resident morons) appear on the scene and hit on Kimberly and her Asian friend, Trini. I wanna be like them. #PowerRangers
Bulk and Skull stop harassing the girls when Zack comes into the picture. #PowerRangers
Billy, the “nerd” of the group, is now taking Jason’s karate class. I probably should take karate class, too. #PowerRangers
BULK *at Jason’s karate class*: “TEACH US HOW TO BEAT PEOPLE UP.” The guy’s like 250 pounds! He needs teaching? #PowerRangers
An earthquake in Angel Grove High! I guess Angel Grove is in California, right? #PowerRangers
Alpha the robot and Zordon, that scary huge head on the projector, make their appearance for the first time. #PowerRangers
Alpha pushes a button and somehow Jason, Zack, Billy, Trini, and Kimberly get transported to the spaceship. #PowerRangers
Zordon explains to the five what’s going on and tells them about what that crazy Asian lady is going to do (destroy Earth!) #PowerRangers
The five will be given extraordinary powers that come from ancient creatures called… DINOSAURS. #PowerRangers
If I yell out the name of a random dinosaur, do I get access to extraordinary powers, too? #PowerRangers
The five teenagers don’t believe what’s going on so they walked out of the headquarters. DON’T WALK OUT ON ZORDON. #PowerRangers
OH, NO. PUTTIES. #PowerRangers
The putties overwhelm the five teenagers. WHAT DO THEY DO NOW?! #PowerRangers
MASTODON! PTERODACTYL! TRICERATOPS! SABAHTOOT TIGAH! TYRANNOSAURUS! And they became the #MightyMorphinPowerRangers!
Somehow, the Power Rangers’ transformation made them into better fighters, turned footage to Japanese, and Trini into a man. #PowerRangers
Somehow, all the Power Rangers knew they had access to huge robotic dinosaurs. I’m suddenly confused. #PowerRangers
The five robotic dinosaurs formed into one superpowerful robot. HOW DID THEY KNOW THIS? They just do, I guess. #PowerRangers
I just know this: I can’t lose a battle if the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers theme song is playing in the background. #PowerRangers
KIMBERLY (about being a Power Ranger): “I don’t know, you guys!” OTHERS: “Kimberly, no!” KIMBERLY: “NOT!” #PowerRangers
And for a whole season and change, Jason, Zack, Trini, Kimberly, and Billy protect Angel Grove City as the #PowerRangers. The End!
